And I will be there

And if silence is what you want,

but loneliness is what you fear,

I will be sitting beside you,

with nothing said and nothing heard,

but if you say something,

you will find a person to hear.

And if you don’t find a reason to smile,

and even trying is hurtful,

I’ll not ask you to stop being sad,

I won’t make jokes unnecessarily.

But I will be there,

if you want to share a laugh,

or a chuckle, even if it’s gingerly.

And if anger is what you feel,

and I know its not your fault,

I know things slip from our hands,

and all around comes to an abrupt halt.

I will be there to fume with you,

I will be there to bring a glass of cold water,

and if nothing can be done about this anger,

you won’t be alone, I’ll wait with you,

and not even for a second I’ll falter.

And if you want a lap to rest your head,

because everything feels so heavy.

Or if you want to weep silently,

with you, all my tears I’ll shed.

But not for a split second,

I’ll allow you to think,

that everyone leaves when times are bad,

because I will there to hold you then,

until you feel everything is okay again.

I’ll be there at your lows, when there is a stormy cloud,

and I will be there at your highs, clapping so loud.
